About Hyde n Chic Restaurant

Born in Accra, Ghana, in 1982, Chef Andy Hyde has charted an inspiring culinary journey that began with a three-year internship in Hannover, Germany, in 2002. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Art and Science, and since then, he has devoted himself to the art of blending cultures and flavors.

Challenges marked Chef Andy's early life. After his mother moved to Chicago during his childhood, he reunited with his father, Aikins Hyde, in Germany at the age of nine. Navigating this new environment was difficult, and he returned to Chicago at fourteen due to an unhealthy situation. Fortunately, with the support of his biological parents, he found a nurturing caretaker family in Germany that helped him thrive.

Today, Chef Andy showcases his unique culinary style—Afro-Euro-Tropical Cuisine—a vibrant fusion that embodies his rich background and experiences. His exuberant smile and passion for creating joy through food shine in every dish, turning each meal into a celebration of life.

 

Hyde N Chic Restaurant opened its doors for dinner in October 2019, fulfilling Chef Andy's lifelong dream with this self-funded venture. In 2023, he married his elementary school sweetheart, Shekeba, whom he met in the 6th grade. Now living happily together in Naples, Florida, their enduring partnership adds a special warmth to both their personal lives and the restaurant, inviting guests to share in their joy and passion for food.
